As you know, I have a little obsession with labels going on! I think everything should be labeled beautifully. I’ve posted about my adhesive pantry labels, and my spice jar labels. I love those labels, and I think they work great for many situations. However, what do you do to label containers that you change around frequently?
It’s a bit of a pain to have to frequently remove an adhesive vinyl label, throw it away, and create a new one. Also, sometimes you really want to scrub down your container or put them in the dishwasher, and it’s better to do that to an unlabeled container. My solution is repositionable static cling labels!
When I first heard of the idea, I must admit that I was a little skeptical. Do they really work? Do they really stay on your container or do they keep sliding off? I’m happy to report that they really do stay on. I honestly can’t tell the difference between that and the adhesive vinyl on my OXO containers.
I can seriously shake the containers and nothing happens to the labels. I have some video proof down below. To make them, just buy some static cling material, and cut just like you would anything else. They are also available already made for purchase here.
One thing to note is that they will only adhere to smooth and very clean surfaces. I have tested them and know they work well on these items: OXO containers, Sterlite containers, anything glass (even curved glass surfaces like spice jars), and true stainless steel. These will not adhere to dirty surfaces, some faux stainless steel surfaces, walls, or anything textured. Tupperware modular mates are hit or miss for me. If it works for you on Tupperware, I’d love to hear about it.
